Does anyone know of a Ford dealer in the Southeast who will install the Saleen
sc on an 05 GT and provide a warranty? My car has only 2k miles on it but I feel the need for speed!

Thanks,

Tom

Dear Tom,

In Chicago, try an authorized SVT and have them intall it...

They do warranty this product as well as the car...

I suspect this will be of ZERO help but Sunset Ford in Garden Grove here in (currently stormy) southern california has a special this month for Saleen SC's. I don't recall forum rules about posting numbers but for the price of the SC plus tax they install it--done!

Mine is going in today, as a matter of fact. However I have just under 28k miles and they said Saleen will only cover it for 12months/12k miles. You, on the other hand, should probably get the full 3yr/36k

This is a touchy subject.I called saleen and they said they warranty the kit for 12/12 and nothing else.Fords rules say you can not modify the car an any way or it voids the warranty.I would not expect ford to buy me a new engine if a I throw a rod through the block.I would just be carefull if a dealership tells you that they will cover it for 3/36.

If thats what you want then go for it.Oil leaks and other stuff should be covered.Just be prepared that dealerships have the right to refuse service due to the s/c,some wont care.

I just received shipment of my saleen s/c and will be installing it this week.I will let you all know how it goes.btw I'm a ford tech and I dont care what ford says they will warranty almost everything short of a engine.I wont defraud them.If something breaks due to the s/c it will come out of my pocket fair is fair.

CorralOne,

You've got an excellent point. Sales people are sales people and time spent verifiying what they say is time well spent. If something breaks due to the SC on my car inside of the 12/12 I'm getting from Saleen you can bet I'll be down their at their front desk asking for a manager. Irvine, CA (Saleen HQ) is pretty close to me.

As you are a Ford tech :hail2: what would a new engine cost for a typical thrown rod due to SC? And do you have any recommendations to prevent such an occurence (i.e. specific model of stronger rod)? My baby is a daily driver and I actually rarely go WOT but she does see 4-5k regularly

If you are just installing the saleen s/c the stock engine should be fine.It only runs 3.5-4 pounds of boost at about 400 rwhp.Well within the saftey limits.A built motor for 500+hp should cost no more then 5k.

I finished my saleen install today but having problems with the sct tuner.Boy that s/c looks and sounds mean on the car though:nice:
