Saleen Taillight Covers

I just checked. I looks like I forgot to send kuntry the pm. I remember previewing it but I guess I never sent it. I'm teh win. OK, I'll redo it.

I used vht night shades, its a black transparent paint. I masked off housing so only the red lenses were showing. Then I lightly sanded them with 400. Layed down a light coat, let it dry, light sanding with 800, another light coat, 800 again, then one last coat. The more coats, the darker the lense will be. 3 coats got me almost black. Then I had someone at work spray it with a real clear. So they look factory. But since its transparent, when the lights are on or you have the brakes on. It doesn't look dark at all.

What do you mean? The Saleen covers are thicker both on the outer and inner edges.

perhaps you're right, especially after i take a second look at the pics you posted (i know i've told you before, but your car is one of the meanest on here! ). i guess i'm just too cheap to go out and buy/look for those covers when i could just paint them myself, heh.

just curious as to what ur using to mask off with?

what i use works fine, but it's annoying and takes more work with curves, haven't really explored best masks for curves... so what did you use?

SHUT UP! HA! i didn't know if he used real thin stuff that was like electrical or something, i was just curious jerk! haha

but really i was just wondering cuz i use masking but someitmes tight curves get annoying

I just used blue painters tape and around the edges i used smaller pieces of tape and worked around the curve. Its not hard at all.
