Sanding hood...

Well my buddy has a hood he wants to prep before he gets it painted. Neither one of us have access to an elctric sander so we are going to do it by hand. The paint that is on there is ****ty as hell. No clear coat or nothing. It looks as if someone just threw some rustoleum on there and called it a day. Anyways, my question is, what grit sand paper should we use to sand it?
All we are looking to do right now is get it down to the metal.

Buy a can of aircraft coating remover. Work smart not hard.

80 grit sandpaper should do the job.

Use a sanding block when doing it, it will help you find the low spots too.
