I got a Serius satellite StarMate player that I'm going to install in my '01 until I eventually swap out my Mach head-unit. I really don't like having to use the suction cup mounting bracket on the windshield. Has anyone come up with a better place to mount this thing? Maybe with some sort of custom bracket. Somewhere closer to the radio would be nice.

I have mine hidden in the console. I used the suction cup mount to place it close to the top for easy use. I put the antenna on the rear deck, ran the wire up under the carpet and into the console. Then I power the unit with the cigarette lighter plug from the console. When its closed everything looks stock. I didn't like the unfinished look of brackets in my interior, I also don't think any of the radios match either.

However in my work truck that thing is smack dab under the radio with two sided tape!

I hadn't even thought of that. Keeping it hidden would be a nice bonus (especially since I have a convertible). Isn't it difficult to change stations while driving?

Well it depends, you can't just glance at it while driving, but it stays out of the way for me. Keeping my interior stock looking was more important to me than the functionality of the radio.
