I hope it sets there until the wheels rust off.
Ford needs to sell vehicles and then they do this to loyal customers. I bleed Ford blue but it might be time for a change.

You've got that right and it can sit there until it rots for all I care $48,000.00 not only is that ridiculous ? but completely insane..you could build your own Shelby GT clone for a lot less than that with the very same FRPP parts

X-Plan Sales?

anyone know if the Shelby is eligible for the X-Plan?

If so, lets find a dealer who's willing ......... !!!

I think list price for the Shelby GT is too much for what it is. Ford's road ahead looks rocky if they continue letting dealers ask prices like this for popular vehicles. Why not build fewer of the vehicles people aren't buying and must be heavily rebated to sell and more of those people want such as the Mustangs, Shelby GTs and GT500s. Sticking it to loyal fans might make a few dealers a few extra bucks initially but harms the company greatly in the long run.
I say clone the heck out of them and let the real things set on dealers' lots. Most of the Shelby GTs I have seen on ebay are not selling and have few bids.

Is it worth $48000? I doubt it.

Top Gear here in the UK have just given the GT500 a drubbing and recommended the Roush which despite having a lot less hp, took 2 seconds out of the GT500's track time. Lighter is better and a Roush is better than any Shelby.

You are right at $48K being high! In my neck of the woods though, that is a good price. Dealers are asking $15-30K over MSRP. I offered my local dealer MSRP out the door and he just walked away without a word.

Has the whole world gone mad?
It's enough to make me think about buying a GM product?

Stopped by the dealer today to pick up a couple pieces I ordered. Went up front to BS with my salesman, come to find a Red gt500 with white stripes was freshly purchased for a conservative $61,000 and the new owner was actually smiling..

Not a chance in hell I'd pay that tag for that car. Unreal.

Roush is today what Shelby WAS back in the '60s.

Sad to say Stan that I am a victim of Ford's Road Ahead. After owning 7 Fords, I have jumped ship. With the performance capacity of the LS1, I walked away from the 05 Stang and dropped into a fully loaded 2001 TransAm.

I will take a wait and see approach with Ford for a few years.

No matter what ford dealerships are askin for the gt500 and the gt, i could never "settle" for the camaro/TA. Yes they do have decent potential but still. they are just so ugly, me, id rather push a slow ford then drive a fast ugly chevy

Point made. Enjoy your Stang. I know I enjoyed my 98 V-6/03 GT and 05 V-6. It was time for a change.

The F bodies are trash. Fast, yes... but trash. They shake, rattle, and fall apart... And oh just wait till the passanger gets by the huge hump in the floor on a long trip.

Saw my first one today up at Crossroads Ford in Cary. It was black with Navigation. List price with $51K including the Dealer Mark Up. It's basically a GT with a CDC Grille, Hurst Shifter, and California Special Bumpers and Shelby's sig. I just don't see why anyone would pay $8000 for the Shelby package.

Does it have a better suspension and engine mods? I'm thinking it probably has a CAI and Exhaust, anything else?

Other than the very same Ford Racing Performance Parts cold air, suspension and exhaust kits that anyone can purchase and install on their stock Mustang GT ? No it has nothing else but the cosmetic parts you've already mentioned, so YES your absolutely right and I also don't see why anyone would pay $8000 for this package basically your just paying for the Shelby sig and nothing more.

Well there is the whole "Limited Edition" thing and the associated resale value ....

The Shelby only puts out 319 HP, sure it looks great but the extra money is NOT worth it. You could build a Shelby out of a GT and be much happier and it would cost less.
