Is there really a difference between the two brands? My engine builder prefers Eagle and doesn't really like Scat at all for some reason, but I found a deal on a brand new Scat 4340 crank and it would save me a lot of money. Any diff??
I bought an eagle crank and eagle rods. My machinist HATES eagle cranks because (he says) they are from japan, and when you balance them, you end up taking alot of material out of them because they are so far off. When he Mic'd the journals on the other hand, he said they were perfect. If you get one, and get everything balanced to 28oz, you might as well have them knife edge the crank when they balance it instead of just having them drill holes into it.
I run an Eagle 4340 crank and my machinist didnt even touch my crank when they needed to balance it, he told me it was perfect. I run Eagle rods too.
I have heard nothing but good things about Eagle products
