so this spring, im re-spraying my ground effects silver again, and also touching up some necesary spots of blue as well. i've decided to also do a cobra grill insert while at it and had a few questions...

how are these things held on?

i like the un molded look for some reason, so do i just cut a hole and pop er in or what?

where's the best place to get one?

how do they look without a badge?

should it get painted before, or after installation?

does anyone have any pics of theirs, or maybe just kind of enlighten me a little.

as always, any help would be great, like i said, it's not getting done until spring, but i 'd at least like to get a game plan going.

I dont personally have one, I have the stalker. However, from my understanding they come with a template that shows where to cut. The inserts are held on with 2 sided emblem tape and I would deffinatly fit the piece before painting. If you have any questions on prep and painting shoot me a PM.

You have to cut out the flat peice inbetween the headlights, and then the grille sticks on with a 3M-type double-sided tape.

paint it before you put it on.

The cheapest place to get one is CalMuscleParts.com @ $50.00

I've got one, and I'm just waiting for it to get warm so I can plop it in.

I installed one on my 87 vert when I installed the new bumper cover. I bought it all from 50 resto. I used the 3m tape but I also drilled holes and pop rivited it in on the top where the hood covered it. I used a dremmel to cut out the opening. The instructions came with a template and you use that to center it and mark it. It was very easy. I would paint it first then install it.

The one from 50rest had a lip across the top if you look close you can see where I rivited it where the hood meets the grill.

I dont have any good pics of it painted because it was still unpainted when I sold it. Justin sent me some after it was painted so heres what I have.

Blue oval industries sells a real nice one. They claim its made with the original ford tooling. It also includes the running pony emblem. many of them do not.

Blueoval sells them on ebay also for 49.95 + 9.95 s/h
and here is their actual web site. www.blueovalindustries.com

Yeah, looks so much better. Mine didn't come with a template though...Not that it's too hard to figure out.
