Thats why I own multiple firearms. No such thing as multipurpose in my family. Maybe we're all just gun nuts.A handgun can be used in conjunction with a CCW permit though...good luck concealing a shotgun.

I too am a firearms instructor, though my expertise is in close combat and disarming. But my weapon of choice is a 1911, tell me why you wouldnt recommend a 1911? Is superior trigger pull, pull length, trigger weight, slim design, optimum safety location, though a limited capacity at 10rds (which dosnt matter here in CA since we cant have more than 10rds) Grip angle is so perfect that 90% of all other brands use the 1911 grip angle. Complete tear down requires no tools as the gun itself was designed to take itself apart. Dead reliable. Weight may be a negative for some, but with the added weight follow up shots become easier and makes gun placement in the hand more apparent.
I dont think you can just brush off a 1911 as a bad combat handgun without providing info as to why.
I did not say the 1911 is a bad combat handgun. I said I would not recommend it for the average person. The 1911 is one of the finest handguns ever made and makes an excellant combat handgun IF you practise with it. It needs to be cocked and locked to carry it. This means that a crisis situation requires the safety being disengaged before the gun can be placed into service. This requires fine motor skills which need to be practised. Very few people practise to the level required for. For the average person i would recommend a revolver or semi-auto which can simply be drawn and fired with no other manipulation. There are a huge number of excellant choices in many different calibers. Of course this is all just my opinion. As I said in my original post, there is a lot of subjectivness and opinion involved in handgun selection and usage. (If I was only able to own one firearm, it would be a 12 ga shotgun)
I'm getting close. Having to resubmit all the paperwork...
You guys have been awesome.
HD is a shared goal. Fun, plink, and accessibility when SHTF are also goals.Have you thought about a 12 gauge or a 20 gauge pump for HD Tim?
Everyone else. I respect all thoughts and discussion provided. I will reply with fruit, in time. Thank you.
I own a Sig P228, XD45, Glock 19, Taurus PT100 (Beretta 96 clone), and a few other handguns. My favorite is the Glock. Hands down. Next in line would be the Sig, followed by the XD.
Glock all the way.
No prob. man.....
Once you get a handgun you will want an AR-15, then a AK-74, then a .50 Barrett......the obsession is endless..........

I 3rd this. It's can be as much or more so addicting as modding Mustangs
Ditto. About the only other wish list I have that's as big as the one for my Mustang is the one of guns I want to own one day.
...life on the ground just seems dull
x100
I'm starting to get bored with shooting pie plates at 500m with my 7mm. I'm thinking that after i get my 1911 this spring/summer that a 338 lapua is next in line for awesome long range factor.
you boy's dont have planes to worry about tho...thats worse than guns AND mustangs combineddad and I are currently saving up / looking for a good stearman project. After you ride in an open cockpit bipe with that radial blasting away...life on the ground just seems dull
I know what you mean..I am lucky though, you guys are not only paying me to fly, but buying the gas for me too!(and I burn about 800-1000 lbs an hour so it is not cheap) I have a great job.
seems high for a F-18 is it an E3 awacs?
It is a UH-60 Blackhawk. Proof that you can make 15,000 lbs of crap fly. Just for clarification, that is lbs/hr not gals/hr. Works out to about 120-150 gals/hr. Fuel probe is calibrated for weight not volume
