ok so im a complete moron and i cant launch my car at all cause i suck at driving. there now that that is out of the way and we are straight, here is my problem. when i leave all i do is spin tires. i have kuhmo 255/40 17s on there that i thought gripped pretty well. just supercharged my car and now when i leave i heated them up a little, launched at only 2000 or 2500 rpm and was trying to shift at around 5000-5500 rpm but i was on a ghetto road so i was paying more attention to the road than my tach. what to do to suspension so i can launch better or do i just have to keep trying???

i know my car should be at least low 14s now well im hoping but i got a 15.26 as is right now at 98.1. this is going by gtech which turns out to be pretty accurate cause i brought it to the track and ran it at the same time when i went and it was extremely close.

should i do suspension?? or should i just learn how to leave since i suck so bad???

hahahah
you can laugh at me for 30 seconds go!!

ok thanks

try letting off the gas when you go. No need to heat up normal street tires. They aren't drag radials or slicks so there is no need for that. Go out and get yourself some upper and lower control arms, subframe connectors and torque box reinforcements. CGS chassis have some nice subframe connectors on ebay. There are a lot of things you can get that have to do with suspension. It just depends on how deep your pockets are lol.

You need new aftermarket upper and lower control arms for sure and different springs and shocks would help also. The control arms will definately help with the traction issues right away.

Looks like I got beat to answer you he is right subframes too but they help tighten up your car, but the combo of all he said will really work well, and yes there are other more expensive alternatives too like a panhard bar or a watts link
and something called a traction bar, to whole different suspension setups like coilover shock kits and others. But money is the answer to how and what you do. The control arms can be under $200 to $400 plus it is not a walk in the park to change these parts (to your average Joe anyway.)

1 learning to drive will be the bigest advantage. for cheap things to help, upper and lower control arns. new shocks and springs can help to but depends on if you want streight line performance. you should deffently be in the 13s with that set up. what weight do you put into your gtec. i have one to but never get good hp numbers with it and i think the 1/4 times are about .2 slower than actual.

some sticky tires would help with some traction to if you want.

Try disconnection the front swaybar, that really helps weight transfer.

There is no weight input for 1/4 mile on a g-tech, but i agree on the slow #s. I always run much better at the track than i can on the g-tech pro, even considering the track is at a much higher elevation. The HP #'s I get from the g-tech seem pretty low too, but that could be that I just don't know the exact weight of my car. My point here is, I wouldn't trust the g-tech, it's just a fun toy to play around with.

Your best bet for traction is U/L control arm's and subframe connecters, like everyone else said. Also, a pair of drag radials won't hurt.

well on the weight, when you set up your car info you put cars weight in there, i know its not used for the 1/4 mile time but i was still curioues on what you used for it. also the gtec is good for seeing how much gain a mod made without taking at rip to the track. like i ganed .6 with full length hearders and full exhust, accordingto the gtech, i havnt been to the track yet to track it but you know.

You could have all the suspension you need to run 1.3 60fts, but if your tires are crap, your not going anywhere.

GET RID OF THE KUMOHS!!!
I had the same problem. Same tires, can't drive, lousey 60' time, 9lb procharger. Best time14.40 @ 101. Last year. This year went to Nitto dr's, 275/40/17. Best run, same setup except for the tires, 13.56 @ 107mph. My car is capable of much better et's but so far I'm not. Definitly harder than it looks. The tires alone will make a huge difference. Just installed rear upper and lowers but have not gotten back to the track.

just like pro50sc said...get better tires...Nitto drag radials are awesome, I can vouch for that.

you could even get away with poly urethane bushings in your stock control arms. Your times are pathetic for a blown car- its not your fault. Low profile tires were not meant for drag racing. The sidewalls of the tires are too stiff. Put the slicks on that you have (I'm assuming they're 15"'s) and I would bet that you could see nearly a second in ET based on what I'm hearing. Launching slicks at that rpm will give you 0 wheelspin. Good luck.

im gonna try the slicks but i need to put my driveshaft loop on first. i think ill pron invest in some upper and lower control arms and then i should be good to go. ill let ya guys know what happens when i hit the track again.

thanks for everything

Better tires

I have some Kuhmos that I run on the street on my car and they are okay especially with the abuse that I give them but they are crap at the track. They don't stick wet/dry- warmup or cold. I agree with either the Nitto or the BFG drag radials. MT is suppose to have a new drag radial. I am dying to see someone try those!
