Alright, before anyone rips into me, I know it was completly my fault and I accept it. It was completly avoidable and I learned my lesson.

I took a buddy for a ride and smaked a curb going through a turn. End result was I scraped the rear right rim, bearing, disk and axel. Im lucky my dealership takes good care of me cuz I was able to get the car back in 2 days.

One thing thats been bothering me (besides the cost of fixing all of that) was that the service manager told me if I heard noise comming from my differential to come back and he would fix it under warranty. He said that the pin on the end of the axel(something about abs) made a mark on something in the diff and I have no idea what it could be.

Should I worry about it ? Ive been paranoid and listening for anything out of the ordinary. Car drives the same and everything but Ive been taking it alot easier on it since that mishap.

Has anyone else smaked a curb ?

Sorry, never smacked a curb. What were you doing? Powersliding?

From my experience, the roads in Quebec are just plain horrid regardless.

Yeah it was a power slide.. From a stop a floored it turned left and the back end went out and SMACK... Not happy with myself.

The concern I have is the diff due to the mark that the axel made in there that the service manager mentioned. He showed me the damaged parts, the axel has a pin on the end...

Maybee Im just being paranoid ? I hit it prety hard cuz at first they were just going to replace the rims... But then the list grew.

If I could see a picture of this "pin", I might be able to tell you more.

Also, I've smacked a curb hard myself as well. If something were really messed up, you'de notice it. I think everything is fine.

Thanks for the input guys , If anyone else has done this i'd like to hear more about it... Just incase..

My car has 11k km;s, so its still brand spanking new... Wich is why it bothers me to no end. I would have accepted this alot better had I bought used.

Did he actually look inside the differential and see this mark? I have no idea what he is talking about, but I would not give it a second thought since he said he would repair it under warranty. Just go beat on the car a while and if you don't notice anything, you're fine. On the other hand, if you do notice a problem, it would be a good time to do a gear swap to 4.10's if you haven't already.

I was really bad one time, showing off, went around a turn around spot on a road (it was late and nobody was around) going about 40-50 mph. Obviously, the rear end came right out from under me....I was powersliding right across the lanes (4 lane highway) and decided I might as well try to take it all the way and do a donut....well that didnt work out so hot, and I ended up just barely getting the curb with my wheel. Never really noticed any damage, and the rim wasnt that bad, so maybe you hit harder than me, but mine was the front driver side

the only pin in the rear is the pin that is run through the carrier. it holds the spider gears in the trac-lock. if you had an serious issue you would have most likely experienced it. be glad that the dealership has said it would be a warranty repair if needed. if the rear doesnt whine then i wouldnt worry.
