Scrubbing Bubbles on Chrome Wheels?

I was cleaning my tub the other day and was using Scrubbing Bubbles. I noticed on the directions it said "for chrome, rinse with water afterwards." Well, I have chrome shower nobs and a chrome shower rack, and holy hell, that stuff is shiny now! Will this have the same effect AND still be safe for chrome wheels???

I can't imagine it being much different, with the exception that it might somehow have a chemical reaction with brake dust, rather than with soap scum. Shower knobs are alot cheaper to replace than rims are! I would take a rm off, and try it on a discrete spot, on the inside if possible, to see what the results are. I know organic brake pads' dust, combined with some other tire cleaner, made aluminum rims turn yellow. Test this in a discrete location on your rims to be safe!

it might be a de-greaser in which id assume can eat at any coating or plating after awhile....

here is the best thing to do for chrome wheels iv found. iv used ALL the cleaners for chrome rims imaginable and the BEST method i foudn was to wash your car, then dump the water out and get new water and soap and just clean your rims with that. after you dry your car dry your rims. after that you wax them with regular car wax and take the wax off just like the paint. comes out better than any cleaner in the world ever could do.

That's the method I prefer. Soap and water FTW!

That's exactly what I do. I also use a different sponge than what I wash the car with.

oh yeah forgot to say that also. i use another sponge for the rims and another sponge for the wheeel wells.

just powder coat all chrome black... never worry about it again

BTW the soap meathod is the best, I've found out the hard way that certain cleaners discolor.

A lot of these people are saying that the soap method is the best. Do you mean soap without wax? The guy that stated the original method said he waxes the wheels as well as cleans them with soap. Just curious.
