Seafoam Directions

i just used seafoam first time ever. did my research first and was hoping to find pics of someone using it, but never did. so here i am helping other people who wanted pics on how to use seafoam. there are many ways to use seafoam, i used it through the brake booster and had a smoke session. good stuff

So did you notice a difference afterwards?

What are you risking when putting in in? I have 156k on my car (almost anyways).

Don't you have to change the oil right afterwards?

David, I waited till oil change time and changed it about 5 drives afterwards. I just dont feel comfy running the stuff through the motor and leaving the oil (though it may be fine).

I also used the brake booster because it was easy.

i haven't had time to drive it cause i had to cook supper, but you can totally hear the difference. alot smoother idle, plus you can see all the build up coming out the exhaust. i'm going to do it once more tomorrow and give it an oil change on friday. i agree with "hissin50" i heard some people say you don't have too, but play it safe and just spend the $10 to do an oil change. i'm going to! :worship: Seafoam

Cool thanks for the pics, i had a can of seafoam but was a little nervous about the whole thing so i dumped it in the gas tank. but now im def gonna go grab another can and give it try. Awesome Pics!

See now, I am afraid to run it in the gas tank. And I dont think anyone has given a source saying whether it is O2 safe. And I have read about all the seafoam threads (the question was asked many times with no concrete replies).

"curse" here is a link to their site. it's a really good product. the way i did it i put a 1/2 can into my brake booster while idle. turn engine off wait 15min, turn back on and watch the smoke (carbon deposit) get flushed out your pipes. its cleans and clears carbon deposits in your engine. good stuff and only $6 can.

i didn't have to put it in my gas tank, just because i had the dealer service my fuel syst and replace it due to the TAINTED 76 gas in the NW last month. i filled up at a station with tainted gas and fkd my fuel syst up. it was on the news and stuff, so conoco/76 picked up the tab.

Or a top-end cleaner. It has been used on marine and lawn equipment motors for years. In the old days, I used water through carbs instead. Same idea (clean the chambers).

Oil Change Isnt Necisarry, Seafoam Is Actually A Petroleum Based Product Which Is In Turn Just Oil. For The Same Reason I Wont Put It In My Gas Tank, B/c Just The Thinnest Oil Will Clog An Injector.

I have used many cans through the gas tank on all of my stuff and haven't had any problems w/ o2's that I can directly link to the seafoam. If you're worried about the O2's, might be easier to just pull them out of the pipe instead of actually dropping the pipe. I've never heard of anyone turning the car off for 15 min...interesting; I usually just suck it in at idle and let it run for 15 min or so.

I really doubt if it had any chance of clogging injectors that they would tell you to put it in the gas tank - not to mention promote it as a fuel system cleaner.

It doesnt matter what vacuum source you put it in actually, it doesnt have to be a brake booster, and even if you dont have any carbon build up at all, smoke is still gonna come out like crazy because it will be burning off the seafoam, thats what the smoke is.

I've got an oil change coming up in about 500 miles. Does anyone use this stuff in their oil?

I had some sludge come out in my last oil change and was thinking about putting 1/2 a can of Seafoam in the oil for about 50-100miles and then using the other 1/2 of the can with the vacuum lines just before the oil change.

What do people think of this plan?
