I had to cut the grey wire in the picture to get the seat belt out... Will I need to reconnect it?? I assume its got something to do with a Buzzer...

It's actually not electrical. It connects to that button that protrudes out into the door jamb on the pre-1990 cars.

It's a seat belt tension adjuster. Don't ask me how it works.

Thread 'How is this part called and where can I find it?'

Oct 9, 2020
Hi -
New to this forum and posting for the very first time because I was not able to find anywhere how the part on the photo is called and where I may find it. I have posted the photos of the passenger and driver sides. I am missing the driver side. Looks to me this is just a spring keeping the door from rattling perhaps? The spring is still there but the pin and base are missing.
I have a 86 hatchback GT if it matters.
Thanks for your help!

SOOOOOO should I upgrade these to newer belts, as discussed in 5L5's attached thread?? Or will these work at all... Getting ready to spend $250 to have these re webbed due to fugly blue color???
Remember this car is a convertible... It seems like I looked for new on LMR"S site and the belts for sale were different than mine???

I don’t know the convertible specifics. I do know on the hatch/coupe cars, the belt mounting tab changed in 1991 meaning you could only use 1990 belts on a 1989 or older.

I do know know these details for a convertible

Glad I asked about these before spending money on them.... The grey " wire " ( thanks 5L5) that I cut, is an actual wire inside a sheath... When the door pushes on the black button it actually pushes the wire ( like a throttle cable) into the seat belt retractor.... So I probably messed this up by cutting it....
I went to LMR's site and the belts they offer will fit a convertible according to there instructions.. .... My " black buttons" all work fine and the cables are good on " one ' side.... LOL.... So if the color was OK I might of reused them.. but the blue interior has left the building....
So it looks like they will be black ( see my other post) if I purchase these new LMR models......
Thought of purchasing some aftermarket " Lap " belts that only went over the waist, but I assume john law would not like that......

Yeah, lawman may question not having a shoulder harness because 'factory' and I didn't look to see how the law is written.
I say 'go for it'.

I'm waiting for both threads to get dreadfully old before I merge them into a complete nightmare of nonsense.
