Man I'm really dissapointed in my christmas present. I got two American Products Company brand seats and after a difficult install, they are too high (legs hit steering wheel) and very uncomfortable (foam is a bad shape, too much lumbar). I was thinking of carving the foam to a more desirable shape but then They would stiil be too high and just kinda akward (sp?). This has got me feeling a little depressed because the stang isn't running to great either. So I thing Mustang Plus' procar seats look nice but they are 700 FU**ING dollars!! I can return my current seats to offset the cost a little but after all shipping costs I'll still be paying at least $450 out of pocket. Man, this sucks A$$. Dose anyone know of some good fitting comfortable seats? I really want a seat with some nice support that make you feel like your really secure.

HELP

What do these seats look like? I know this doesn't help but I saw an earlier post on Scat Pro-90 seats which sells about a $100 cheaper than Mustang Plus thru Summit Racing.

They are more radicaly shaped than the Pro-90's. They are bolstered at the thigh and lower back. I did see however that summit has them for $535 a pair which eases the pain a little.

My main concern is fit-n-feel. I am a sloutch, I dont like to sit up strait, me seats are always reclined back further than "normal" peoples'. I DO NOT like a pronounced lumbar in my seats as you have to sit up strait to avoid the lumbar forcing you to bow your back. Dose that make sence? I want to sit IN the my seat not on it. I want to feel PLANTED and secure in it. I took the foam out of my APC seats which allowed me to sit more INSIDE the seat, however, the metal cross braces didn't feel too good. Anybody know of a seat that will fell as I have described?

I looked at those GTA lo-backs but I want a recliner.

Also I did find the procar rally's at summit for $535 for a pair.

I'm considering the Rallys, or the Unique Performance seats - which are Rallys with a different (nicer, imo) stitching pattern and Caroll Shelby's name on them for $799 with brackets. Tough call, $100 for a nicer pattern ...

Ther is no way I would pay $700 for seats at this point (trying to finish up an engine builfup), But I found them for cheaper and I have $300 worth of seats to return.

I know this may not solve all your problems with the seats you have, but are you aware of the seat pan modification that would lower those seats? Mustangs Plus did a write up on it, and that write up has been discussed in this forum in the past. I hate to pull an Lman on you , but a search might be in order. Perhaps you could live with the seats you have after this mod.

yeah, I know all about the mod and looked into it closer after finding my problem. I would like to reserve that for a last resort. I have been researching diffrent seats and still dont know what I want for sure. People who own the Procar Rally seats seem to like them. I wish I could find a database of seat reviews. I have seen the database 66moneypit put togather (dosn't have many options), and a elite/rally comparison that reenmachine wrote but there are more than a few seats out there.

Izkwesm has the right seats for you but they are more than $700. You can buy some later model Mustang seats and they will sit fine with minimal install headaches. I have Recaros in my cars and purchased these seats off a SVO. They are also Recaros less the price tag. I had Corbeaus before and they also sat higher than oem but not as much as you describe your seats. I bought these off ebay for $200+headrests. Here is a quick pic. Yea, I know, that's a ricer steering wheel that is going out. Live N learn.

My friend installed Procars in his 66 and it raised him up a lot, his legs hit the steering wheel. I installed 2000 Cobra seats in my 66 and it raised my head up the to headliner, and I'm only 5' 7". I took a BFH to my seat pan to lower it. Its still a little higher than I like but its tolerable. It I hit a big bump and not belted in tight, my head hits the ceiling.

Have you seen this thread?
http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?p=5780969

These are looking good at just over $200 each:

The problem I have with ordering seats is that they have all kinds of measurements EXCEPT the one that tell you how high off the floor your arse is gonna be. I am NOT willing to swap out a smaller steering wheel to gain thigh clearance, head clearance is not an issue since I'll be driving topless 99% of the time anyhow. I might even take the car's top down sometimes too

I have these seats... and broke them last weekend after a 1 1/2 years. crapola - everything was fine with my old 306.. but since i put the 347 in- the torque must be to much for the seats.

i got on it, spun the tires and then hooked... BAM! - no more seat
i haven't had time to really look at it to see if i can fix it- i've been to disappointed

i also lowered my seat pan 1 1/2" when installing these seats due to my thighs hitting my 14" sterring wheel and my head hitting the headliner. (6'2" 225lbs)

Damn! Thanks for the info, guess I'll look elsewhere, still interested in learning WHAT broke (the seat, the mount, the floor, the bolt, the rail, etc.).

Just goes to show that power does not break parts as much as traction does...LOL.

Edbert it was hit seat. There is a pin on the bottom half. The bar that fits over it flexed a good bit and popped off.

so i guess these seats are just like the 68-69 seats in that respect, Ford actually had a recall on the standard low backs because they would do exactly that.
