Securing package tray?

I've spent years packing soft stuff under my rear package tray to keep it from creating buzzing noises when the 6x9" speakers underneath it play, with relatively good success... problem is, there is no good way to secure it in the front, just that little clippy thing, which I've also had to pad with foam to keep quiet. Has anyone else had similar problems and come up with a better solution to hold the thing in place?

The only way I could keep it from vibrating was to put dynamat on the top and bottom of the package tray. It's thin enough that it didnt interfere with the mounting clips. If thats still to thick I would try the liquid sound deadeners that you can roll on. You could try using some type of L brackets towards the front of the tray....I believe the seat covers about 2-3 inches of the tray so they wouldnt be visible whne the seat is installed.

double sided sticky tape?

What clippy thing are you talking about? I am just about to install mine and was thinking i had to cut off some of the board because it hangs over the front. It seems like the rear seat wont fit with it there. Here's a few pics of mine.

The rearmost edge of mine kind of slides up under the rear window and out of sight, holding the back of the tray in place. Try pushing down in the back and pressing it up under there.

Also, a nice tweak to make to hide the speakers is to take off those grilles (which don't hold very well to that material the package tray is made from anyway) and wrap the whole tray in appropriate colored headliner. Helps dampen rattling and completely conceals the speakers, but the sound isn't affected.

The clippy thing is kind of a flat bar with a wide, concave opening spreading from the top end that the front of the package tray cover thing fits into, and the bottom end then attaches to the vertical metal behind the seat. Holds it down and in place by virtue of pressure. Sort of.

My speakers are bolted through the metal frame the tray sits on top of. I got some small threaded screws and some locking nuts. So if someone tries to steal em it will be a pain in the ass.

I should probably find some of those... where did you get yours?
