Seized Exhaust bolts !!

Well I went to get my or/h pipr fitted today and they couldnt get the damn nuts off.

The ones that are stck are the 4 that hold the h pipe on to the exhaust headers (stock ones)

They tried:

regular tools (ratchets etc)
1m long breaker bar for leverage (that ended up splitting the guys snap on socket
Air powered impact wrench
Oxy-cetaleene (spelling ?) to heat the bolt then try undoing it..

but nothing worked,

they guy said you cant even get the torch in there properly to cut the nuts off, and if you tried you might damage the thread on the header stud, then the manifold would have to come out completely...

so right now i am majorly fustrated, those nuts just seem like they dont want to come off

anyone got any other ideas ???

(short of cutting everything up to get it out of there then installing long tubes.... )

I certainly hope I don't come into this trouble, but mine is an '04, so the bolts should be in good shape still.

Did you try PB Blaster or another rust eating lubricant/soaker? Those get even the most stubborn bolts loose. Soak it, grab a 6 pack and get started on the brews, and come back to the car in about 30 minutes. Then, try again, and let us know how you fare.

Try using Craftsman nut removers.I have a set and they work very well.Use heat on the nuts and then apply the nut remover while the nut is still hot.As far as having an 04,the passenger side nuts are a bi#ch to remove no matter what you use.You can cut the pipe off to get a better hold on the offending nuts.

the nuts were all soaked in PlusGas (rust eating spray stuff) and it didnt help at all...

they really are suck, i cant think of what else might work ??

they were heated up so much the socket that went n the nuts was getting real hot...

couldnt really heat them up anymore,

yup, tried that at home yesterday, but ill give it a spray every hour over the weekend and see how it goes..

what year is your car and how many miles are on it? I cant believe they are so bad an impact cant get them off

its a 96 with 51k... I really cant believe it either,

I had absolutely no trouble pulling the bolts of the exhaust on my 75 f250...

doesnt make sense huh...
