My service engine soon light has been on since I got a tune up. Its only been one day (I got it done yesterday Friday) and I am getting worried. My mechanic I went to told me that because he put the spark plug wires in in the wrong order at first, that the engine won't turn the light off for about two days to make sure the car is running correctly. Does that sound right?

Try and disconnect the battery first for about 5 minutes to clear the codes and reset the computer. If that does not work, tell your mechanic to do a diagnostic and get the trouble code(s).

A simple tune up should not be causing the light to come on unless it uncovered a problem that is not showing until now.

Thanks for the help, it went off when I started my car up in the morning, whew! I worry too much.

V6 (Ietricrs):

Not sure where your from but if you have an Autozone near you, ANYTIME your SES light comes on you can go there and use their machine to tell you your trouble code. Free too!
