Service Engine Soon

The service engine light on my 2004 Mach 1 came on and stayed on for a while but went off before I could get it looked at. Should I still take it in to get tested or not worry about it unless the light comes back on? The car is running fine and doesn't seem to have any problems.

with out the light on i dont think it will tell them anything. Also could have been bad gas. I had mine come on in my mustang and it checked out for a misfire. finished out my tank of gas got new and it went off.

I had the SES come on just once. I romped on the gas going up a steep hill and the Mach started chugging and sputtering (No, the TC was'nt on). The SES light then came on. After about 1 minute it was running fine again and the light went out. No code thrown. I took it into the dealership but they never found anything. Has never happened since. In your case I think I'd wait until it does it again if it was'nt running like crap or anything.

I had the same idea that it might be gas so I ran it till it was below an 8th of a tank then filled up (premium) at a station that I trusted. Since making that post I've probably driven another 20 miles or so without it coming on. I guess it just wanted to give me a scare after getting it paid off.

You should be able to pull the code, the computer has a record of it.
