Service technical repair manual

Anyone know if one book is better than the other (chilton's, hayne's, ford service shop manual) I heard that some books are better than others and was wondering if this is true. I also heard that the ford shop manual has 3 different books (power drivetrain, wiring electronics & how to) Any recommendations on which book to buy if it even matters?

I need one for a 93 gt hatch.

I have a 93 GT hatch, and bought the shop manual. It's the best. With it you can do anything you think you're big enough to do. LOL. There are two books, one shop manual, other emissions. I bought just the shop manual, so I don't know whats in the emissions. The shop manual is about 1 1/2" thick so there is a lot of stuff in there. Get it at HELMS, Inc.

thanks for the reply. Yeah, I called Helms and they wanted $85. damn thats up there, but I guess if it is worth it. I can get the chilton's one for only $20 at my local bookstore. Is the ford shop manual that much better than chilton's is it worth the extra $65.

YES it's worth it. You get the exact book for your year. Chilton's covers different cars and it's hard to tell if it's your car they are showing, or another one. Also, the shop manual has the Ford Part Numbers and exploded views of your exact model and year. Yes it is $85, but if you get it, you will see it is worth it. I used it to replace my entire engine, brakes, trouble shoot stuff, and it has all specs and torque ratings for bolts and nuts. It has step by step instructions and everything. IMO you will not regret it. I don't sell the books either

I bought one for my 1989. Just used it to do the transmission, clutch, flywheel, and some other things on my 1991. I don't think it really matters what year you get. However, I am in trouble if I need to do something to the airbag in my 1991. You can get any year from 90-93 and they should be the same. Look on Ebay. I got mine for $56 including shipping. It is used, but the pages look like new.
