After reading for quite a while, I'd like people with experiece to tell me which way to go. There is a nearby powdercoating shop, so either header will be uncoated. That way i can ding them to fit, then make them look nice. I have a 289 with maybe 330-350 fwhp, and a t5 with modern driveline cable conversion. Which fits best? Which gives me the best all around performance? If the comps cost me 5-10 hp, I may not splurg for the super comps then. Please help me and alot of others out. Thanks.

I believe they are identical except for the gauge of steel used. The Comps use 16 gauge steel (thicker and heavier) while the Super Comps use 18 gauge steel (thinner and lighter). I may be wrong but this is what the tech guy at Summit told me. For a street car, the comps are prolly just fine. As for powder coating, I opted for getting the ceramic coated comps because everyone told me the powder coating would not take the heat over time and would eventually deteriorate. I guess you could bash them into place and once assured of fitment, send them out to Jet Hot.

I would go with the comps for your combo.
But my Super Comps are 1 3/4" not 1 5/8" like the comps, so double check the pipe diamater to be sure. The comps will fit a little easier if this is the case as well.

You can check out this link from a fellow Stangnetter to see what combo's others are using if you haven't seen it yet:

http://www.stanginfo.com/Headers/headeroptions_view.php

I went through this decision myself recently for my 68 with fresh 347 (302 block) and T5 transmission, power steering. I decided on the Comps with ceramic finish and I'm glad I did. The fit is excellent, had to install the PS drop bracket but I didn't need to ding them at all. I decided to go with the JMC hydraulic clutch install to avoid the interference fit with the cable setup. I think others are running a setup similar to yours, but you should verify this. Here are some pics of my Comps installed:

I have the ceramic comps installed on my 65 f/b and couldn't use the cable setup. The way the headers come down there's just no room to get the cable in there. I had to go with the hyd. setup.

Hmm, thats not too good then. Do the supercomps fit the cable? Id rather not have to redo the clutch setup. Thanks for the replies.

I have actually heard that the supercomps work well with cable clutches. The reason being that it has an opening between the primaries and collectors making room for the cable to fit in between. Atleast this is what RMP, and modern driveline have said. There is also a certain hedman header that works well.
