So I have been looking at things and the Shelby Kicker subs looks nice and the price isn't bad.
The issue I have with them is that they are a single voice coil 4 ohm sub.
The factory is dual 1.2 ohm voice coils.

Going from 1.2 to 4.0 ohm is a huge power drop, or are the amps bridged so that they are really 2.4 and you are changing to 4?

I would think that if the factory is dual 1.6 then changing to dual 2.0 would be much better and get more power to the subs.

Anyone? Need to find out soon since I will be doing Kicker KS68's they are they new version of the KS680's. I would prefer to only take the doors apart once.

thanks

I have the Shelby door subs and I could have sworn to god that they are 2ohms and not 4.

thanks for the reply.
I found a post on another forum where someone took an ohm meter to them and they measured 4. I will have to check it again.

I also found a post where someone said that Kicker told them that they are made to use with the full package including the truck sub since these are mid bass and not really subs.

I may try calling Shebly and Kicker both just to see what they say.

So I called Kicker since last time I tried talking to Shelby they told me they would have to contact Kicker.

They said that the door subs are 2ohms which make me feel a little better about them.
The reviews are so mixed that I am not sure about spending the money on them without also getting the 4.1 amp for the 6x8s since it has a different DSP in it which tunes the system to make all the speakers work together better.

Well what I am going to do is add my own amps. I'm looking at added a 12" in a qlogic box, powered by a kicker 5 channel amp and then the door subs be powered by it's own kicker 2 channel amp. It will sound a million times better than the Shelby setup

If your looking to do the external amp thing, look up a pac AOEM-FRD24 harness. Its a plug and play harness that gets you the rca outputs for a 4 channel amp. Its also the preamp signal from the factory so it will sound beautiful and you wont need a equalizer/processor either.

Thanks for the info. I will have to check it out and see if its something I want to do anytime soon.
The system sounds so much better since installing Kicker KS68's in front at back that it may just stay that way for a while.

I love the fact that the front speakers had MACH printed on the back of them and one needed a nut driver and the other a torx to remove them.
