In my teens, I use to keep mine under the seat. If I got pulled over, I would just toss it on the dash. If they mentioned it, I would just say it must have fallen off the the windshield.
These days, they're all about checking out the car. Most of the time they just wanna see it do a burn out or checkout under the hood.
