I think the shelby manifold is equal to a Edelbrock RPM,same med/high rise dual plane, but the technology must have changed in the past 35 years

I went away from one and got a huge hp increase with the weiand xcellorator. Now that is with my engine combo, but it was like 34hp gain...essentially the intake was my bottleneck.

the shelby intake is just an edelbrock F4B intake from the 60's with the shelby logo on it. shelby had edelbrock cast the intakes for him. it is a decent intake, and should give an increase in mid range power over your performer, but not as much as the rpm or the stealth intakes will. as was said, technology marches on.

Who makes the Ford Racing intakes? Is it also produced by Edlebrock and Ford puts their name on it?
Thanks, MikeR

i was also looking into getting an edelbrock rpm air gap, i hear they are pretty good, they are kind of expensive, could anyone tell me what the best bang for my buck intake manifold would be? heres my engine set up:
302
hi-po 289 heads, ported and polished around 11:1 compression
comp cams magnum muscle 282s cam,
solid flat tappit lifters,
528 lift int/exh
236 durration @.050 inch timing
110 lobe seperation
edelbrock performer intake manifold
holley 650 double pumper 4bbl carb
heddman torq-step long tube hedders
shelby style dual side exit exhaust 2 1/4 in Inside diameter, with glass pack mufflers
MSD 6A ignition with blaster II coil

alright based on that what should i get for an intake manifold? thanks a bunch

Ford now markets the old F4B/Cobra/C9OX intake as the A321. STILL an excellant intake. I'd use it before choosing an RPM. Runners are unequal length, but it works great then as it does now.
