Yea, I've seen that done before, it's pretty cool.

I used to have access to a machine shop at a orthopaedic manufacturer and I made a shift knob for my car out of implant-grade titanium alloy. In other words, my shifter could have ended up in your grandma's hip. The shape is pretty basic, it's just the material that makes it cool. You can see it in this older picture:

I also think the new MGW knobs are pretty cool:

Nice work, I have a basic billet handle that feels pretty good, but when I screw it all the way down, the markings are upside down. Not that it matters, but it bugs me a little. I had a Hurst T-handle before and I thought it was very uncomfortable.

I used to run modified Hurst T-handles in my fastbacks and mavs. I filled the hole and redrilled the hole at about a 10 degree angle, then installed it about 45 degrees past parallel to the dash. That was extremely comfortable for me although it looked quite odd. Now that I think about it, my 80 Capri also had one like that. I never hit the dash although I yanked the shifter out of the tranny a time or two.

I change put my shift knob frequently. I think I have 5 different ones.

I might go back to me 03/04 Mach 1 knob this summer. I ran this two summers ago, and the 03/04 cobra 5-spd knob this past summer
