We just installed a new pro 50 shifter in my buddies 96 cobra. Now at around 50-55 mph it has a bad vibration. The whole car vibrates. It didn't do it before. Is the transmission going out or what? We are going to put the stock shifter back in, in a couple of days and see what happens. Just wanted some thoughts on this. Thanks.

Coincidence?

Does the vibration occur in all gears or just at the same speed?

All we did was install the new shifter and now it has a vibration. It feels like a driveshaft vibration but it didn't vibrate before. So I don't know what's going on.

I hope they wouldnt take out the DS for a shifter install, lol.

I dont beleive they are specifically balanced either, so it shouldnt need to mate up the way it was taken off.

Hmm... id ask if you have a shifter for a T-3650 instead of a T-45 but I dont think you would even be able to get it in gear.

Anything fall in there? The little plastic "cup" on the bottom end of the shifter still attached? I dont think that would cause that issue though.

No way a simple shifter install can cause the vibration. I think either the u joints or soemthing happend during a hard shift.

Thats what I am trying to figure out. He drove it 20 miles to my house and we put the shifter in and thats it. I can't figure it out. Its confusing the hell out of me.

Did you remember to transfer over the little plastic "cup" onto the "ball" on the bottom of the shifter? That could cause some vibration up through the shifter and into the console...maybe...but not the whole car.

just making sure there wasnt any additional work done. A lot of times peeps on here will post problems without telling the whole story of what thyey modified because they dont think it would matter.

On the t-5 and the t-45 there isn't a plastic cup on the bottom like the 3650. Its just metal.

Isn't there a little plastic insert in the transmission part though? I know on the T56 there is

There might be a plastic insert in the transmission but not on the shifter. The old shifter didn't have anything on it so there was nothing to put on the new shifter.

The T5 definitely has the cup because I swapped it over when I did my MGW.
