shifter lock, blinker, and cruise control

Hey folks, my wife's 2000 V6 recently started having several problems. First, the blinkers would race intermittantly like a cocaine heartbeat (which according to other posts indicates a burnt-out bulb). Then a couple of days ago, the gear shift release button (automatic transmission) won't release unless you are pushing on the button while you are turning on the ignition, with your foot on the brake. If you don't do that, once the engine is running, you can't shift out of park. You have to turn off the engine and restart it while pushing in the button on the shifter, hold it in and shift into another gear. Then last night she tells me she's driving home with the cruise control on, but when she hits the brake the car accelerates and wouldn't stop until she turned off the cruise control (she is blonde, but she is also certain she was pushing on the brake, not the gas).

Before I head to the shop, does anyone have any thoughts on what might be the problem?

No new stereo or anything electrical or mechanical done.

Thank you. That was exactly the problem. One of the wires connecting to the brake pedal was broken. We had it fixed and the problem is gone. Thank you.
