shifter question

hey guys, i just bought an 89 LX, the car was originally a 4 cylinder and it was converted to a 5.0. The car is a standard....My question is, did the 4 cylinders have different transmissions than the 8 cylinder, or are they both T-5's. Thanks,

its a t5 but there are a few different things,gearing, input shaft etc.any t5 shifter will fit

4cly tranny is much weaker the a 5.0 t-5. but the shifters are the same so I hope this answer your ?s

I know its weaker...However.....My buddy converted a mid 80"s 4 cyc capri over to a 5.0 and used the stock t5....He beat on that thing regularly and and held up .....When he sold the car about 3 yrs ago it was still in it and he converted it over in the late 80's. So I guess for daily driving and having some fun it isnt to bad But for abusing it behind a built 302 No I wouldnt do it.
