Does anyone have any experience with the Hurst Competition Plus Shifters? I need a shifter for my 67 fastback w/toploader 4spd. I have heard this is my only option or least expensive one compared to a $500.00 used factory one off of ebay. Any other optitions?
I have looked at pictures of this shifter and it looks tall. If anyone has pics I would greatly apperciate them. Also will it work with a factory console?

I believe yes yes and yes. They have a good feel to them and can be adjusted. Dont have any pics, but I like them better than factory ones.

Great shifter! Once you've had Hurst, you'll never go back...

The competition plus is a very good shifter and you would like it much better than a stock one. It will fit with a stock console and will easily outperform a stocker. A true win-win situation.

The Comp plus is a good one, just make damn sure you order the one that's correct for your application. It's not a one size fits all proposition, unless you want to butcher the floor. To fit your application without problems, you must have the correct tailshaft housing for your car and the correct shifter and install kit. You can look up the part numbers on Hurst's website then order what you need online thru Summit Racing, probably Jeg's too. There are other sites as well, but you'll likely pay more. I'd also recommend ordering the steel bushings for it too, they'll last longer than the nylon's the install kit comes with. Only downside it the shifter will be a little noisier with the steel's.

Thanks everyone, looks like I'll be going with the Comp. Plus. I forgot to ask about the floor, if I need to make mods? Apparently the PO had a after market setup cause the hump has been butchered pretty bad. I had a pro stick with the auto so the hole didn't matter. If the comp plus fits in the stock hole I'd like to repair the hump. If not I got the first step done LOL.
D.Hearne what part of south louisiana are you at? I'm in St. Amant, just south east of Baton Rouge

Not if order all the right parts like D.Hearne said. My '68 has a Toploader with a Comp Plus sticking through the stock (auto)shifter hole.
