Loooking at a car that's 1200 miles away from me, I'm scared to death of buying a car sight unseen, any words of wisdom before I do this? I was thinking PayPal for a deposit to hold the car and then a cashiers check for the final payment. I looked at Uship for shipping the car and I'd want it to be enclosed. What about the title? Have the seller send it overnight? I've never done this sort of thing but the car I'm looking at is priced well enough to make it an option. Need to know kinda quick as the car won't be around too long I'm sure, I'm thinking of placing the deposit on the car tomorrow (Monday) even.

Have them do a walk around video. Also, I would do the payment just like you said. As for the title, I would have the overnight it to you.

If it was me and I wanted the car super bad and it was a killer deal, I'd fly there and then plan on driving the car back. Just my .02 but I would never buy a car sight unseen or even with a video.

Rejekt would you be able to go take a look at it? It's actually somewhat near you and I'd trust your opinion. It's at 28025

I would rather ship it being 1200 miles away and a mystic cobra.

As far as looking at it I would post up on a local mustang board and find someone to look at it that isn't a friend of the owner.

Title I would FedEx it over night.

Shipping I would do DASautoshippers. I have shipped 5 times with them and always had great luck.

If it was a mystic like you have been looking at I would 100% ship it. No way would I drive it 1200 miles.

Yeah it's a mystic with 52k on it. No way I want to drive it that far halfway across the country. I'll post up on local forums there I guess and see what I get. I'll check into the shippers as well, thanks Kornnut

Concord zip code. That's about 3 hours west of me. I wish I had known, I was just out at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Coca Cola 600 and it's right there. I would still try to look at it myself and then drive it back home. Mystic Cobra or not, these cars (for me anyways) are meant to be driven and it would be an awesome and memorable ride home. is this a private individual or at a dealership?? Here's one from that area.

It's an individual but not that one. It's posted on svtp though. 52k on it and it's close to half of that price as well. Any shops in that area I could have check it out rejekt? I'd really want to have someone check it out before flying out there.

He just got the car dyno tuned at pro dyno.. Are they reputable enough to call them and ask their opinion and give it to me? Or would they hide things about the car?

I don't know anything about that shop. What I would do though is have them (pro dyno) go through the car and send you a detailed report of the condition. Even offer to pay for it, that way the seller isn't out anything and you can have a bit of peace of mind. Everything checks out, then go for it.

http://www.pro-dyno.net/ <--- I'm guessing this is the place. It's right by Charlotte in SC. They seem to hold alot of dyno days and car shows... etc etc.

Exactly what I was thinking. I don't think any shop is going to put their name and reputation up and lie about the condition of a car. They would know the most about the car.

Well I actually called them and they said it was a pretty solid car. They didn't go through it with a fine tooth comb they said but it ran well enough to dyno it obviously. I did call Custom Performance there in the same town to have them check the car out. The owner said that he wasn't friends with the owner there but if he needed to take it there to get their opinion he would. Why the hell does this car hae to be 1200 miles away

Sounds like the guy is pretty easy to get along with. I would have him take the car to a shop and have them go through it and send you a copy of the report. Then buy it if it all checks out, come down, and have a hell of a ride back home!

lol I still kinda want to ship it, mystic and the work schedule can be brutal. Add to that the little time I do have off next week the fiance essentially said she gets it.. car or not. Car may come and go, but that one I'm attached to a little longer haha

I would see if the one shop could check it out, and if it does in fact check out then snag it. I can't imagine the whole 1200 mile thing, I'm looking at a car 3.5 hours away and to a point im already dredging it.

I know how it is man. I work 50+ hours a week and sometimes weekends so it's hard to balance it out. Add 2 kids, one being an infant and it is even more difficult. Might be a great time to spend some time together and enjoy the car at the same time though, especially if you don't have kids! I have always dreamt of flying out to buy a car and having a blast driving it back home. 1200 miles sounds fun as hell to me! lol...

haha I'd love to and I already pitched that idea to the better half, but I got the go to hell look pretty quick. She's in grad school now and can't get away for the 3-5 days that we would need to make a trip out of it. I'd love to go pick it up and head to gulf shores alabama, its where she always wants to go since she went there when she was a kid. maybe i'll work the front a little longer..

lol Well good luck bro. If this one doesn't work out and you find one near Raleigh, let me know and I'll be happy to check it out. NC has a ton of Mustangs, mostly I think because of military guys buying them.
