Hey guys I have a very slight, but annoying squeak from my right rear shock absorber. I was quoted a $150 to change the rear pair, is this a good price? My car also has 127,000 miles on it and was recently changed to synthetic oil? The grade of the oil was 5w-30. I was told this was better because it was thinner, is this true?

can't help you with the shocks but with the oil i wouldn't go down in oil weight because as your engine gets old it also wears away little, so i would almost keep getting a little thicker oil every 150k miles just to help keep up with the wear on the engine. like right now my car has 200k miles and i usually use 10w-40

Can I add something to thicken the oil?
