I’ll start off by saying body work is somewhat foreign to me, so please forgive my ignorance. When taking off the front suspension, I discovered that the bottom of my shock tower is damaged by rust.

The areas around the damage seem solid and the part of the tower inside the engine bay seems solid. My question is, what type of repair is required for this problem? Does the whole shock tower need to be replaced, do I need to weld in a patch for this area or do I just ignore it all together? Thanks for your help.

there is a patchpanel to fix that. where it is rusting is not a good place. Thats the major connection for the shock tower to the framerail

Like already mentioned, they make a special patch/reinforcement panel just for this reason. You definately need to fix this as there is a lot of force pulling up on that shock tower..

I would replace that. the surrounding metal looks very week and would not be a good attachment point for the patch.
