well my bilstien strut leaked everywhere so im gettin some tokico d specs, while im doing this is there anything else i should replace? thanks

I thought the great thing about bilstein's is that they have a lifetime warranty but maybe I'm wrong.

what is the best shocks for the best price? i heard that belstiens are really good and but are a little pricey. i need to pick up a new pair of shocks but i dont wanna be spending loads of money if i can get something just as nice for cheaper.

you obviously dont know what a good shock is if you think Bilstein suck. they are by far the best shock made, not including a Ohlns coilover. you are taking a huge step down in quality going with Tokico. besides Bilstein have a lifetime warrenty and you can contact them for a replacement.

I agree 100%. Call Bilstein, ask for replacements... I wouldn't trade my Bilsteins for the world based on quality alone, the lifetime warranty is just another perk.

the reason im saying they suck is becasue the strut leaked everywhere, and the tociko's you posted about are not for 99-04 cobra's.

any strut can leak, its just a bilstein thing. sometimes a bad apple slips past the QC people. just have ait warrenties. and ya the tokicos for the 99-04 cobras suck just as much as all the other ones.

RMA the bilsteins. the only reason i'd go with the D specs is to get adjustability if i absolutley needed it. considering most of those that i see with it have no idea what the hell they are doing, nor what changes they make do, nor why changes need to be more, or what the correct setup really is for the situation they are in.... bilsteins. you got a bad apple, i'll weep for you, it just doesnt seem logical to drop 650 on a 10 dollar fix... just ship them back to bilstein and let them have it fixed.... or hell, just get a SINGLE replacement... makes more sense to me.

just get the warranty replacements mail them in or try the local distributer.

dpecs are nice, however youve already got great shocks with a kick ass warranty in there.

Is it me, or does no one use Koni's for their Mustang?? I've used them on several cars, and I couldn't have been happier... I don't know what they're like on the Mustang... Are they just too expensive for most?? I had 1 set that lasted 4 years of New England winters (They were the Yellows w/ 7x7 Adjustment), and they were still rock solid on 7, and smooth on 1. No leaks, and I got rid of the car...

I do know that a lot of German AutoMan's use Bilsteins as original Equipment... BMW and Benz I believe are the 2 off the top of my head...

toyota and GM also use Bilstein on their trucks. Lotus uses adjustable Bilstein coilovers on teh Elise and Exige.

Konis are good, but generally used by a lot of the more hardcore road racers. the Bilstein setup does not have adjustability, which is good for beginning road racers as that is one less place to adjust. the Maximum Motorsports Bilstein coilover setup is one of the be ton the market.

Ahh, okay. I understand now.. It's good that I'm getting this info now... Regardless of how much I've been reading regarding suspensions, I haven't really found a all around "best," set up.. I like the adjustability, but since I don't really plan on Road Racing this car, unlike my last 2, I don't think I really need the Damper/Rebound adjustability on them..

Are Bilstein's rebuildable?? Sounds like it's just easier to ship it off for the warranty.. I just don't like having my car in parts where I'm at while I wait for the replacement.. Neighborhood kids...

I still think it's pretty amazing that a company offers a Lifetime warranty on such an easily abused part... I've never used Bilsteins that I know of... Are they a good all around mix of stiffness and ride comfort?? Not like I care about comfort, but it helps me determine if they'll take my abuse..

Sorry to semi-hijack the thread.. This just got me thinking...
