Shocks revisited...what shocks for 1.25'' drop?

I still haven't come to a conclusion on which springs to get and which shocks to get. I really want a 1.25'' drop (nothing drastic but to cut down on the gap between the tires and the fender wells). I would like to cut the price down by getting the mach 1 shocks which are tokico's non adjustables. I've heard however that they will not ride good with anything over a 1'' drop which rules them out i guess?? I really dont want to spend 450 for a set of tokico 5-ways. Does tokico make some shocks for lower cars than 1'' drop that aren't 5-ways at a more reasonable price? I love the ride quality of the mach 1. Its sporty but its smooth and comfortable unlike the bilstein's and other drag style shocks that are very stiff. I want a comfortable ride but i also want some good looks and better performance if possible.

Any suggestions? I dont know which springs to match with which shocks and any suggestions are welcome.

In that case I would get Steeda Sport Springs and bilstien struts
and shocks that would be a great combo if you ask me.

I am running the steeda springs which lower my car ~1.25". Before I ordered my shocks I called Tokico and asked their opinion. He told me that I would be fine running the regular Tokico Blues(non adjustables.) He said that they are fine up to 1.5" of drop. So that is what I got. So far the ride and handleing seems great.

bilstien are not drag shocks and struts first off. I don't know who started that rumor but it is BS. they are way to stiff. they are for handling and they handle awesome. tokico makes matched kits. I would just buy one of those if this is allyou want. remeber the hp are 2-3 setting on the ILL. so if you are happy with soft save the money. me I like stiff and responsive. Also rember the side panels have to come of to ajust the rear. in my case with my stereo that is a major f&^king pain is the as*. so I went with a fixed setup. I think these kits would be fine as long as you relize 1" is not alot of lowering.

If you are dead set on getting shocks and struts to improve handling and some ride quality, go for it. but with a 1.25 drop, the stock shocks and struts can handle that. If you go anything lower then a 1.5 inch drop, then that is when shocks and struts and CC plates are a MUST. So if you think you NEED them, you don't, just incase you wanted to use the money one somthing else, good luck.

Yea i meant drag/handling shocks. They are focused on performance which is great but at a considerable comfort cost. I drive my car daily and dont autocross. I have no use for an all out performance car that rides rough.

i will let you know how my car turns out. having H&R sport springs & tokico hp s&s installed sat. i got new isolators & sway bar bushings as well. i will let you know, supposed to drop 1.5 will see? i will post pic's if i can.

So if i go with tokico regular HP shocks they will run me how much? I assume steeda is the only place to purchase their springs?

Is the mach 1 kit the same shocks that can handle up to 1.5'' drop? I know the mach's are dropping like 3/4 of an inch.

What if i decide i want to go with a 1.5" drop instead? If you guys have any pictures of a drop in this area maybe it would help me make a decision.

Nice where did you order your stuff from? I heard the isolators and sway bar bushings are necessary to prevent all these clunks and creeks people are having problems with lately.

If you are only looking to go 1.25 inches, go with the c springs...you can find them for about a hundred bucks cheaper than the steedas...and the mach 1 shocks/struts are the same thing as the tokico hp's but are labeled as ford products...save your money and get them instead of the hp's

Ok so i can either get steeda springs which would give me a 1.5'' drop and that would be pushing it without c/c plates and different shocks.

How much are the steedas?

Where is the cheapest place to get the mach 1 shocks/struts and then the c springs are ford springs right? Where is cheapest place to get those. It seems as though i was misinformed about the mach 1 shocks being unable to handle a 1.25'' drop. Is that what drop the c springs are worth? Thanks for your help.

i have the steeda springs and the drop is about 1 1/4" all the way around and i got them delivered to my door for $200 off of ebay.

i also have the tokico hp series shocks/struts and got them for $275 delivered to my door, also off of ebay.

i just put the springs and shock/struts in last week and so far i love the set up. looks good and handles much better. hope this helps you out.

got my tokico hp's on ebay 270.00 shipped. h&r springs from howbarmotorsports.com came to like 215.00 shipped. isolator's from stangsuspension.com paid like 50.00 bucks shipped. hope this helps.

C springs are not even 1" drop. the "F" springs are proably what you want. they are spendy though.

I think I would look at that matched tokico kit I posted in for the best dollar value. those prices where shipped. I mean the mach 1's are tokico's.

If you want the cheap route, go B springs with Mach 1 shocks and struts (revalved tokico HPs). Mine total was under $300. I don't care what people say about B spring drops, Mine went 1.5in in the front and an 1in in the rear. Perfect, cheap, sweet ride.

I do want to go as cheap as possible so the rest of my money can get saved for the kenne bell

Do you have pictures of your car? Is this true a 1.5'' drop for that cheap?

you obviously don't have c springs on your car or you would know they drop anywhere between 1.25 and 1.5 inches

Sorry, I don't have any good pictures since I got the suspension. I'm actually getting a digital camera this weekend and I'll post 'em up.

The drop is real similar to the Pro-kit. I really think that I got the perfect drop and the Mach 1 shocks and struts makes a huge difference in handling. My car just feels the road better and most of the body roll that plagued my stock suspension is gone.

I got the shocks/struts for $180 to the door and the B springs for $140. So $320 for a quality handling set up. I wouldn't go with anything else.
