Shocks revisited...what shocks for 1.25'' drop?

Um I have the tokiko non adjustables (mach one suspension) and eibach prokit springs. They ride damn close to stock set up, but I give you this one piece of advice..DO NOT opt for CC plates. They are not needed and I'll be getting my clunky camber plates taken off soon and replace them with stock, aslo..get yourself some new isolators..I didn't, which could also be part of my clunk.

How are CC plates clunky? I have Hotchkis CC plates with the Steeda Sport Springs and have not had a problem with the plates. The plates are stationary right? They don't move or at least they shouldn't. The only weird thing that I noticed after putting on the springs and CC plates last year is when the car dips way to low up front, I hear something that sounds like metal rubbing. I'm just thinking is the struts closing to far. What do you think?

I've heard alot of problems when people change their cc plates and im not doing that. I want to stay within 1.5'' drop for sure.

Where is the best/cheapest place to get some good isolators. I dont even know what isolators look like but from what i understand they are at the bottom of the springs preventing the metal from scraping on the LCA's and making a loud noise right?

red35th, i would most certainly go with the b springs but im not sure i want a raked look with a .5'' difference in the back and front...thats why i want to see pics of these setups because i dont really want a raked look.

also where did you order the b springs?

if CC plates are making noises they are defective. I don't understand all the confusion. if there is play in the bearing send them back. most conmanies have product waranty.

Is the mach 1 kit the same shocks that can handle up to 1.5'' drop? I know the mach's are dropping like 3/4 of an inch.

What if i decide i want to go with a 1.5" drop instead? If you guys have any pictures of a drop in this area maybe it would help me make a decision.

i wouldn't get the tokico HP (mach 1/Bullitt) shocks for the rear. I want to try Bilsteins next time

Why is that? Have you tried bilsteins before? If you did you would know they are quite harsh on bounces which is unacceptable to me. I thought about having stiffer springs in back and soft in front but ithink it would feel extremely wierd for the front end to bounce alot and the back to be very stiff. It would also hinder cornering ability.

hognutz, there have been about 4 big thread sin the past two weeks with alot of people talking about clunking noises after suspension work. Nearly all of them have been cc plates.

I feel that the bullitt tokico HP's are just not stiff enuff and don't have the dampening strength that the bilsteins would have. Speed bumps are veeeeerrry harsh with the bullitt rears. A lot worse than stock. I guess bilsteins would be even stiffer, but that it would still dampen better.

How can the shocks be too soft yet on bumps they are too harsh? I've heard countless people complain about the bilsteins after getting them.

Someone is not being honest here.

I know I have read them. I have not really read a thread that said "yes there was play in my bearing". the whole point of my post was the plates are defective or they are not. they are not supposed to make noise. Mine do not. I was just trying to balace out the myth that CC plates make noise becasue if they are installed correctly and not deffective they do not.

If mine clunked I would have sent them right back to maximum motorsports cause I am etremely anal about wierd sounds coming form my car.

as far as bilstiens you don't want them if you can't live with a bouncy ride. If I were you I would get the Koni's but then again I have never owned tockio. I will stand by my earlier statement of just buying one of the tockio sytems. then they have to waranty it. if you buy seperate and save $50 there will be no waranty.

My Mustang guy said Yes.......its my CC plates that are clunking and I'm putting the stock ones back on since I don't need them. I'm sending them back to GEF and telling him what he told me..........The CC plates are defective!

How much did those springs drop you car? And where/how much did you get them for?

check the reviews section on stangnet, might be helpful. you'll notice quite a difference in reviewer ratings between tokico hp's and bilstein

I agree with red35th.....I am putting in the B springs now (see yesterdays post about B spring drop) and the front has dropped 1.5 or more. I am lowering the rear this afternoon and expect to see 1 inch or so......based on the signature of Blakers01GT he had to cut one coil from the rear to get rid of the "raked "look.....I probably will do the same, but I do not want c/c plates so I may add 1/4 to 3/8ths to the front . Gotta see it on the ground, aligned first. Never seems as easy as it looks does it?

If the b springs have the raked looked do the c or f springs drop your car 1.25-1.5'' (no need for cc plates). and dont require you to cut the coils? How difficult is it to determine how much to cut off the coils etc. and also how much are the springs. I can't get anyone to tell me. They must be pretty cheap for people to be doing entire drops for around $300 including shocks

Couldn't you just cut the stock springs...seems like if its not that much trouble what would be the difference? I guess the spring rate would not be very performance oriented though...
