Alright I plan on figuring out my engine build this week. Need some more opinions and recommendations. I have been looking at the DSS and CHP short blocks. Which makes a better quality block? I have heard goods and bad about both. So I need help deciding on going 306 or 331. I have been leaning more towards a 306 short block because im thinking budget but for a little bit more money, I can see the benefits of going 331. I plan on using the trick flow top end kit either way i go.... My plans are-

1.) 306 street fighter from CHP, and add the main support girdle. With the trick flow top end kit, what should i be expecting horse power wise????

2.) 306/308 DSS bullet short block with 3cc flat top. Or with 13cc max quench. Can someone please tell me what the difference between the 3cc and the 13cc is? How much better/more hp?

3.) 331 bullet from DSS with 3cc flat top- $2,199

4.) 306 performance short block from TrePerformance. ANyone have experience with TrePerformance short blocks?

I have been leaning towards going with the DSS 306 short block, main support system, not sure what the difference between the 3cc and 13cc max quench. But it seems like for 400 to 600 dollars more I could go with a 331 setup. So what does everyone think. Any recommendations on where to get a good 331 short block. Other information I would like to add is this is my daily driver and have to pass smog. I want more power, I have seen that a good 306 can make power, but I might eventually want more, right? I plan on possible going with a s/c eventually. I was thinking 306 and use the extra cash to save up for the s/c. The 331 might take longer to build as I'm on a budget, but i might be that much happier in the end. I currently have almost 110k miles on my car and it still runs good but not as good as it use to, so there is no rush in building an engine but i have been saving money and want more power. I'm looking for a short block around $2k or less. I have been thinking about building an engine on the side for a while now, but cant figure out what direction to go. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

personally from those 2 companies I like the 331 street fighter from CHP for $2299.99 especially if you plan on staying NA or are just maybe going to use a small amount of nitrous up to 100-125 shot anymore than that will be pushing it

that main support you are buying is only going to hold all your parts together when you blow the block apart. If you dont plan on having enough power to do so, then save some $ and dont waste ur money on it.

Also, from what i've been reading for the past 2 years on here and corral, i wouldnt buy toilet paper from DSS...
