Looking to replace the stock shifter in my '03 GT. Shift from 2nd to 3rd is a real pain. Any recommendations based on your experience. Was looking to purchase the Pro 5.0 or MGW shifter. How hard is it to install?

If you plan on racing I would go pro 5.0 and i f you plan on just driving go mgw. I wish I would have knew this before I bought my mgw but its not worth it to replace it.

I didn't think they make the cheap shifter for the 3650?

Any aftermarket shifter will work,it all depends on what you want to spend, and prefer.
As for installation, very easy.Remove shifter knob, shifter bezel, then remove the dust rubber boot, then you have full access to the shifter.

Have mgw here, makes 2-3 shift a breeze, I just cruise though, no real racing

i have owned MGW, tri-ax and pro 5.0

the pro 5.0 will bust your knuckles on every shift into 3rd and wasnt a good shifter at all IMO. the tri-ax was ok but VERY notchy. i have been very happy with the MGW in both my 3650 and the T56. i wouldnt get anything other than a MGW for any of my cars

I have had a tri-axe and currently have the MGW, as for Pro 5.0 I've never used. The MGW is better than the Stedda IMO. It feels shorter and the throws are more engaging. That is just driving around town, sometimes fast others cruising. Hope it helped MGW

Do you guys with the MGW's adjust the shift stops all the way out with the 3650?

MGW, easy tio install, about 30-45 minutes. According to the manual stops are not needed on a 3650 since it has internal stops already. Some people put them in but you would be taking chances.

the internal stops are a joke. i bent shifts forks in my old 3650 with their "internal stops" set up the MGW stops properly and you wont have any issues

I use the B&M Ripper.Had it since day one back in '03.Still feels like a new shifter to this day.
As for the stops on the shifter with the 3650,as long as it is set up properly, there should be no issues. It's when they are not set up right, the issues begin,so one has to read the instruction ,and make sure they understand how to set up the stops.

I have the B&M on my T-45 and we had a MGW on our 03 T-56 tranny. I think they are comparable but i must say i like the B&M more. Summit had a great price and i just picked it up so no shipping... i would def. recommend it. Really short throw and impossible to miss a gear
