Short Throw Shifter Questions:

I updated my Hurst Comp Plus (now sitting on a shelf in my garage) to a Pro 5.0 before I discovered the MGW. With the stock shift lever I really didn't like the Pro 5.0 - not enough leverage for me using my car as a driver. I did find this on the MGW site:

Totally transformed the Pro 5.0 shifter into something more comfortable but very positive...er...a lot like my old Hurst Comp + was. Looking back at it I should have saved my money and kept the Hurst.

I have heard nothing but positive things about the mgw shifter. Can someone tell me what makes these things so great? I have yet to drive a car with one in it but im dying to try one out. I have a steeda tri-ax in my car right now and i like it. I have also had a b&m and a pro 5.0 in the past, out of the 3 i have personally used i like the steeda the best.

I have the Steeda Tri-ax..... and I love it... but to answer your question what makes them so great....

The Steeda as well as almost all others have a single position handle or shaft (two different height settings but single handle position) where if you look at the pic of the MGW in Roland69s post you will see that you can bolt the handle in the most comfortable position for the individual whose is driving, since the top portion of the shifter can be swung 360 degrees... for example if you had shorter arm you may want it bolted into 7 o'clock position, maybe 8 if you had longer arms....make sense???

The other claim ..and I only say claim because I've never used one is that they are the quietest shifters and reduce noise from the tranny to the shifter... if you look, if you look at a steeda and an MGW side by side you could actually see why that is with the extra rubber insulation..... I believe both shifters are the same price, I just went with the Steeda as a personal preference.... I would buy a steeda again, but I think next time around I want to try an MGW....

sorry that was a lot of reading!
