hey guys i need reccomendations on a good Short throw...

i was thinking the tri-ax, there are alot of reviews on here and all are good.
Can someone explain that "offset preload" or w/e it is that finds 3rd... hows it work?? so i can just SLAM it straight up and it will go into 3rd. Seems kind of scary.....

my friend has a hurst billet short throw, it was pretty cool, kind of stiff, i dont know how new it was, he bought it used...

so what are the good shifters to consider???

I like the Pro 5.0 but thats all i've ever used other than the stock one. It's funny how once the rubber thing is gone you can hear the transmission.

I've had the tri-ax for 3 years and I love it. Everytime I feel a stock mustang shifter I want to puke.

the pre load is by springs...it holds the shifter in neutral between 3 and 4

so you have to force it into 1st, then 2nd is ez...then the cross over to 3rd, is easier because thats where it wants to rest

yes all aftermarket shifters have that, and eliminate the rubber bushings.

stock shifters are surprisingly much better by just using a solid bushing in place of the rubber crap. (you can't just eliminate the rubber cuz the the bolts will be too long, they aren't threaded all the way)

i have used hurst and b&m and like them both

I have a hurst pro comp stick on a pro 5.0 base, its a really nice setup.

And when I had a stock setup, I just put two nuts in as spacers, instead of spending money on those solid bushings. That made it feel alot nicer also.

I love my Tri-Ax. The stiff feeling is great because it makes you rip through the gears... you can't really shift too soft with it. And on that note, you can rip as hard as you want without worrying about hurting something because of the sturdier stops!

I have used a friend's tri-ax and pro 5.0 and liked them both. Like BLK91 said, I think you'll be happy with anyone. I want to try the MGW though since you can reposition the handle side to side
