I bought one of the shorty antennas off of ebay and it came with three different size screws that are supposed to "fit any model" car even though Mustang was listed. I looked at the threads of the current antenna piece and compared and none of them seem to be the same. One of the three seems to be the correct bolt size, but there appears to be too many threads and another seems to have the correct threading but too big circumference wise. Any ideas on what I am supposed to do?

Thanks!

Did you try threading them all in the car to see if any fit?

I did try them all, but like I said the one with the right threads appears to be the wrong size, and the one that is the right size appears to have the wrong threads. The one does go in without hassle with about a gap of quarter inch left, but I really don't want to force it as that is what I tried last time and ended up snapping the bolt which led to a long debacle of having to replace the entire antenna assembly.

And how much did it cost you? Not more than 10$ I hope for this trouble... call the manufacturer of the antenna, not the ebay store or whatever, but the actual man on the box, and see if they have an adapter to fit...

Yeah it was about $10 for just the antenna. Of course I have now purchased two of them as well as the $20 antenna assembly and who would have thunkit while trying to remove one of the bolts that connects the antenna base plate to the fender, the piece that it screws into removed it self and became jacked up in the process. All in all this has been a nightmare. This has been harder than half the mods in my signature and for no reason.

At this point though, I have it all back together but do not want to force it again. I guess I will just have to contact the maker of the antenna.

You might as well just spend the $20 and buy the shorty antenna from American Muscle. Install is quite easy and you don't have to mess with different adapters. Seems like this is a case of getting what you paid for.

Hindsight is 20/20 my friend. I did look at the American Muscle one at the time of ordering and I believe that it looked like this exact same one is why I didn't order it from them. I can't remember if the companies were the same or not now.

I have seen some of the ones on ebay and they look like the ones on AM, but I did purchase mine from AM and it installed right away...hardest part was pulling out my multi tool to loosen the old antenna...

Sorry for the troubles you having. It really is a painless mod(should be)
