I am thinking of getting a set of FMS or JBA shorty headers for my car and was wondering if i would need to get a new matching h or x pipe or will the stock one still fit ok? Also for those of you who have installed these yourselves, how long did it take you to do the install and was it necessary to drop the k-member in order to get them to fit. Thanks in advance.

The one thing I don't understand is why someone would buy shorties if they had the option of longtubes, unless your runnin turbos. I say go with some JBA or BBK longtubes man. And if you have a welder..... you can make anything fit!!

Get the JBA's. They fit with the stock or aftermarket exhaust parts. Took me about 20 hours and many cuts the first time, 8 hours the second (exhaust leak, use Ford gaskets).
While longtubes will get a little more power, they hang 2 inches lower than the undercarraige making manhole covers exciting to go over.

if you have to run shorty headers, go with JBA. if you don't, LT's will give you a few more hp.

Some of us don't like to slow down to a crawl getting in and out of simple driveways just so the headers don't scrape.

I actually was orginally shooting to get some BBK longtubes and honestly the only thing stopping me is the ground clearance issue. My driveway would tear them to hell so i have to settle on some shorty headers instead. How much power can i expect to make with the JBAs?

What you may want to consider are the JBA Midlength headers.

but RE: your question, since you've got forced induction, I think you can make some pretty decent gains with the JBA shorties, perhaps 20 rwhp or more.

The test results I've seen are always around 7-10 horsepower. Enough to feel.
Also Bassani makes the mid length, and they make more horsies across the entire rpm band but mainly in the 3000-4500 range. I I did it over again I would go the Bassani route.
