I just found a car I might be interested in. I just sold my '01 GT, and it's already getting old driving a '96 Geo Metro around all the time. 3 cylinders of fury and 45 mpg, so don't laugh. Anyway, I found what I think is kinda a rare Fox. It's an '87 GT 5-speed with t-tops and black interior. The car has 143k on it but has a rebuilt 302. It has new yellow paint, a stereo system, exhaust, and looks lowered. They're asking $4400. I don't think they know what they have, since I'm pretty sure that black interior is rare by itself, but t-tops are even harder to find. I'll find out more when the guy gets home tonight, since his wife couldn't tell me a whole lot. Just kinda looking for everyone's opinion on whether or not this could be a good deal. Thanks!

That's what I've heard. The lady I talked to says that it doesn't leak, but I kinda doubt that. I almost never drove my last Stang in the rain anyway, so it probably wouldn't be that big a deal, since it will be garaged. The next one I buy is going to be the starting point for a race car. Thanks for the warning though.

I've yet to see a convertable that doesn't leak...but I'm sure they are out there.

A convertable isn't really the best place to start with for a race car anyway, you've got weight issues, stiffness issues, and the tighter safety rules most sanctions put on convertables to deal with...Plus they tend to cost more to start with than a comparable hardtop.

I Would agree with Pog and Stangler. That car looks stunning though. Good luck

When you wash it, water doesn't get inside? Guess that's what I meant by leaking...H20 finds ways in

Jerry's is an SN95 though ... and the convertible was a native design, unlike the hack job on your Fox . My 99 Cobra vert didn't get any more water inside when I washed it than my 95 or 03 coupes do.

There's an '85 GT in the Tribune for $1,500. If you are looking for a daily driver, try to find one with lower miles. Less wear and tear will pay-off even if you have to give more up front.

Nope. Didn't buy it. I think I'll be better off looking for a 4cyl coupe. Thanks everyone for your advice.
