should i buy used 3.73 gears and T-lok ?

Im not sure if used gears and a t lok is smart...i plan getting a full rear end bushing kit and stuff to freshen it up a bit with the gears and t lok...but im not sure if a set of used stuff like that is good...i was looking at ebay for people selling that stuff but with 100% feedback which theres a few who sell gears only...so lemme know guys...i want my V6 running in the 14's soon and I think that can def. help

Quick answer......no. You don't know if they were beat up while installed. You also can't tell if there are any micro fractures resultant from the previous statement. Some people have installed without problems, but that is one area where I WOULD NOT take chances.

I was planning on upgrading my OEM 3.27's to 3.73's. I was actually wondering how much that overhaul would cost. I was gonna settle for the 3.73's so I could still get off the line but save some gas at the same time. I know the 4.10's are really quick but how's the gas on them? Isn't it also super easy to spin your tires accelerating on even the slightest slick road?

Ive bought used gears and had no problems. Do a dye test on them to see if any hairline cracks show up.

I am going to say no as well. Used gears can be a great deal or a great hassle. Its about 50/50 either way. GL

Go with 4.10s, and don't go with used gears unless you are prepared to eat the installation cost if you have to R&R them. They will not destroy your gas mileage, and when used with a limited-slip differential they will not spin your tires at the slightest provocation.

The gears will cost you a little under $200. Your big cost will come from paying someone to install them for you if you can't do it yourself, which most can't or wouldn't even try. If you're doing a lot of highway driving, I'd go with the 3.73s over the 4.10s. My driving is 95% highway so 4.10s wouldnt be practical for me... neither would 3.73s either

Highway mileage is not going to become bad simply by changing over to 4.10's. I've been on two road trips from Texas to Michigan in my wife's 2004 V6 auto which has them and it's not much worse (1-2 mpg) than it was with the stock 3.27 gears.
