Hey guys im new to the forum and im thinking about buying my first stang. I am looking at a
95 Mustang Gt
97000 miles
Cobra R rims
Cowl Hood
Exhaust System
No Accidents
Owner has had it for 9 years
Auto Trans


What is the deal with a mustang of this kind. What can I expect to need to fix on it. How reliable are the 5.0 motors? etc. Thanks for helping a newb

That's nothing for a 5.0 engine, check the harmonic balancer for wobble the 94/95's are known to have balancer issues.

Welcome to the boards!!! Not anything out of the ordinary to look for except maybe the harmonic balancer if it is original. Hope you have good credit for all the modding that will soon follow.

5.0's are great engines....they can take some abuse....a couple of guys on here have seen 200K.........if you decide to mod it.....parts are abundant.......do you have a link or pic of what your looking at and what kind of price.....
auto's are a little sluggish but we have some fixes for that.............welcome to the site..

honestly i would never buy a automatic sports car i just see no point I think u will definitely regret buying a auto. just my opinion tho.....5.0's are very reliable

wow thanx for all the help guys! how much would it be for me to fix the harmonic balancer ? do you guys recommend that i change out the spark plugs, ignition wires, auto trans fluid, oil, etc as a 100000 mile tune up? thanks again


PS- Im goin after it and hopefully will be a mustang owner very soon

Anytime you get one of these cars, you want to give it a bumper to bumper once-over. I change out every fluid if I can, and inspect things like the entire suspension, drivetrain, etc etc. You WILL very likely find a decent list of things that need replacement, as 100K is often near the end of the decent useful life of wear-components (e.g. most of us going through our suspensions by 100K, etc).

I will say that you gotta be a DIYer with these cars or they will eat you alive if you don't have deep pockets. We can help you get most everything done if you dont mind doing the labor itself.

how much are u paying for it? i bought mine w/ 85k on it for about $4000.... had to fix somethin stupid things here and there... i have an auto as well.. i really wanted a 5spd but u no what, i wasnt gonna find another car in this shape AND stock w/ somewhat low mileage(at the time, now 98k on the clock a year later) for the price... so i took what i could.. good luck with everything...
