Should I dump after mufflers?

Hey guys, I was just wondering if you guys think it's a good idea to dump my car right after my mufflers.

The only thing that really is holding me back is that I might get a ticket for not having them, and then another for having no cats.

What do you guys think? Should I do it or not?

In all my days I've never heard of a person in a Domestic such as a Mustang, Camaro, Firebird, Viper, etc... being pulled over for loud exhaust... but things might be different in Texas. I doubt it though. Ya should be fine, and if not it's just a fix-it-ticket... you fix it before the court date and show em, they dismiss it

Only problem I can see is....

Smog shop don't like to climb under there to use their testing equipment,I'm not even sure that they will be able to fit the insurment in the muffler if you dump the pipes.....jj

i don't like my job sometimes but i still have to do it. so they really can't use that as an excuse

In Missouri its illegal to have dumps on cars, trucks can have them but they must be cut under the bed.

Louder....if that's what you're going for, but also choke yourself out with exhaust fumes at every stoplight too.

Depends on what's more important to you. Driving around it a louder car with a headache, or a quiet car and but being able to leave the Asprin at home.

Make sure your catback can be dumped. After the tip on my packs was damage I decided to put dumps on. Went out spent 15 bucks for the dumps (2.5" 45* bend) got home jacked the car up to discover that I had forgotten the hangers were attached to the pipe right after the muffler and it was 1 piece

I tried sawing it off...no luck. Barely cut into the pipe already. We are going to try to find the right blade for a sawizza or whatever. (reciprocating saw)

Any ideas?

Try the universal Oxygen/Acetylene wrench. That'll get if off in a hurry.

Well, dumped it without turndowns, just used a grinder and sawed through the pipes...not very happy with the results. What should I do?

I remember when only hilljacks did that on old Novas in primer. Now its trendy. Yes, there is too loud and everyone is staring not because it sounds cool, but because your car is obnoxious IMO. In Indiana, we can write you for not having proper exhaust (or modified). I wouldnt write anyone who had their cats, mufflers, tailpipes, even if its kinda loud. I will however if it is missing one of the above. I did pop a guy the other night while working a P/T gig. I heard a mean exhaust along with him spinning out. I walk out and stop him. Its a 5.0 vert. Just asked for his drivers license (to make sure he had one). I told him just to mellow out a bit, I have a GT vert myself, so I know what its like, so try to do it where there is not all these people. Thanked me and was on his way. Good attutude+Mustang=No ticket

run the exhuast out the back or out the side. to me dumps look trailer trash like you can't afford the rest of your exhaust.

reminds me of people back in highschool when you could not afford a nice exhaust.


That being said the only way you will get a ticket is if you being stupid tacking it out next to a cop. My cars have always been loud and the only time I have ever been pulled over for it is doing like huge burnounts being stupid. Not just for driving around.

You might be surprised...but it's about 1/2 as loud as it used to be. Anyone know why?
