Should i get subframes?

What are the pros of subframes? Cons? I heard something about MM subframes...link to them? What type of shop would weld them in for me? Overall cost item+install? Thanks all.

IMO subframes are one of the most neccessary, but overlooked upgrades. Should be done at the same time as gears, and before any work is done to the engine as far as I'm concerned.

I have to agree that subframe connectors are a very worthy upgrade. They definately help stiffen the car up and while doing so they improve the quality of the ride and get rid of squeaks and rattles as well. The hatch on my 88 GT has never squeaked or rattled once. I have actually considered putting a set of them on my 93 LX 2.3, they really improve the ride and it is something that you will definately notice, especially in a daily driver. I would think that just about any body shop could install them for you for a reasonable price. I honestly cant think of any bad things to say about them.

Cons: If you plan on autocrossing it will restrict you from some classes. Just a thought.

Subframe cons.... well I guess ground clearance might be a 1/2" less when your going 4x4ing, ummm, maby if you like the feeling of riding in the middle of a gaint leaf spring subframes wouldn't be for you, but come on... there are nothing.

I have the MM Full lengths. They are 100% great, but not the easiest to install, your average muffler welder might be a little overwhelmed, but common sence should be all you need.

i also have the mm subframes, there are no cons to subframes, ford should have installed them from the factory. if your gonna get subframes spend the extra money and get full length welded ones

I have a set sitting under my bed. They local speed shop wants $200 to put them on. That sounds wicked high to me.

they really arnt that hard to put on the bigest thing is that the cars tires have to be loaded so it needs to be on a alift that lifts by the tires not the car. anyone with basic mig welding experance can do it. and 200 is deffently high in price. MM are awsome and there are things under my car lower then the subframes so they arnt the ground clearance issue.

EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE SUBFRAME CONNECTORS> not bolt in, welded. You can buy the bolt ins. then bolt them in then weld them. Either way weld them. High schools and colleges always are looking for little projects like that. Talk to the instructors of the shop classes that weld.
