As long as the block isnt craced and the tran isnt fried. thats not a bad deal. It's apart so you can inspect the block and sell off the C4 for a few hundred bucks.

Just drill the holes for a spider tray. I have a new set of bones and a tray that I'll give you if you want. The link bar lifters are stupid expensive, unless you pick up a lightly used or new-used set off Corral of something. Then all you need is some hydraulic lifters. Unless I missed something and the blocks aren't the same...

I've learned a lot of where you can and can't pinch pennies on stuff like this - the hard way. You don't need a fancy bottom end, forged pistons, etc. I can cite 2 people off the top of my head that have been running a stock bottom end for 3+ seasons and are running high 8s and low 9s in the 1/4.

You DO need to buy a good valve train, good heads, a good fuel system and a good ignition system. Spend your money there.

If it's a non roller block, that won't work. the oil passages in the lifter bore area off. you need a set of retrofit lifters to use in that block to make it a roller.
