Got everything out from the bottom of the car; drivetrain, exhaust, brake cables, etc. I was just wondering if I should replace the CROSSMEMEBER on my 86 GT Vert.

I have the stock T5 in it right now but plan to put in my Tremec 3550 down the road when I get to my spare engine build???

Current crossmember is the OEM piece with the factory bushings. I'll add that the car has not seen the street for 18+ years as it has been in mothballs....

I need to pull the trigger on this one soon so I can keep my momentum....

Thanks

They make new pistons every day, so why worry?

Is there something wrong with the crossmember that you have? What condition are the bushings in? I say that if it looks to be in good condition then rock it. If the bushings have seen better days then replace them. This to me is one item that you really don't need to spend a lot of money on

Even if you have to move the bushings on the crossmember to line up with new trans, you can prob just grind off tack welds to adjust. Or buy a new one that will need welded.

The stock piece looks to be fine with exception to a slight bend where the bolt goes thru on the passenger side. Like I mentioned, the bushings are from 86 for certain but they are still pliable.
I plan to install a Tremec in the near future but I'm bringing the car back in service with current drivetrain to get other stuff done first... And right on target: I don't want to spend any unnecessary money.

I did see an offering that was around $39 that was adv as being weldable, but I wasn't sure what was required for alignment and all. Most other offerings go for a flat price of about$64.

I can weld so that wouldn't be a problem...
