My 1 year Vortech old installation started leaking this week. I noticed some oil on my garage floor, there's oil coming out of my filter.

I took the boost pipe out and took some pictures:

Oil on the floor, after 1 week not driving it:

The sound is similar to what it was after installation. This is after around 5 000 miles and ~40 quarter mile races. What worries me is that a friend of mine ordered the same kit, from the same shop, at the same time, and had to return it to Vortech due to a bad seal after only a few hundred miles.

Should I start worrying or if I just need a catch can? I didn't register the unit when I bought it, so I'm out of the 1 year warranty.

Thank you.
Yan

Mine does the same thing and it just got rebuilt a couple months ago, thats probably just normal blow-by...we all get that, mine comes out of the filter very slowly like that as well

Mines 5 or 6 years old now and while there's SOME residue, it's no where near that bad. I've never had anything in the MAF like that.

hmm...shouldn't be leaking THAT much. If it's still under warranty just take it back for a rebuild.

A quick update...

I cleaned everything (discharge tube, boost pipe, filter, MAF) and installed 2 catch cans: 1 on each side.

After a 5 km ride and 4 full accelerations from 30 to 80 mph:
- there are 2-3 ml of oil inside the passenger catch can
- the catch can on the driver side is empty
- the discharge tube is bone dry
- there was 1 ml of oil on the joint between the boost pipe and the Vortech inlet. Could the supercharger still contain a few ml of oil from the previous mess or if it means it's leaking?

I'll keep you updated.
