I am currently running mac off road h pipe with 2 chamber flowmasters. I have been hearing very good this about magnaflow and i am really curious to those who had experience with both? My flowmaster are ok BUT THE DRONE. If anyone has any comments or advise please post..

I've seen dyno graphs that show flowmaster losing power from stock with just a muffler welded in. I don't know what the vehicle was but looking at a cut away view of a flowmaster they don't exactly look high flow

I love the drone ! If you dont like the drone you are not a mustang fan ! How can you not like the drone? It sounds awesome! I dont even use my radio and I have a 6 disc changer with the mach 460 and its never on. This is comming from someone who loves music. I just dont understand people who dont like these mufflers ! Just trade the car in for a honda!

I love the drone! I don't understand how a car could lose HP from installing a flowmaster though.

People think they are too restrcitive. Even "if" they do lose HP, it would only be like 2-4. Then again, losing HP is never a good thing.

you won't lose hp from a flowmaster catback since they have mandrel bent tubing, but you will with a weld in muffler, and you're likely to see more power from a straight through design muffler. Check out a cut away of a flowmaster muffler and you'll see how it can really restrict flow.

Well i am not downing the drone it is that i have to daily drive the car and sometimes in traffic and other situation it can be annoying. I just heard of people using the magnaflow set up and thought about switching. I havn't had my car dynoed yet i am recently put some major mods and am looking to get optimal performance when i get a dyno and tune soon. I live in nicetown wisahickon ave n. philly for the person that asked. Again thanks for the replies.

also what do the stock mufflers look like inside. it doesnt seem possible that the flowmasters could be more restrictive, especially if they are so much louder

Damn I guess I should sell my Shelbys then, because I am not a REAL Mustang fan

Anyone want to buy a couple of Shelbys? Im going to today to put a down payment on a new Civic.....maybe then I get the big wing I always dreamed of?

FYI-
If you are running forced induction- then there will be a BIG difference going to a straight through muffler....as with a blower you are all ready getting the air in fast- so the faster you can get it out the better.....

Here are the best ways I describe the difference...

Flowmaster- has a metallic sound to it....

Magnaflow- has a throaty sound to it, and is a little deeper....

Flowmaster- louder on the inside

Magnaflow- louder on the outside after 3000RPM, but quieter before that and at idle

This is what I figured out after having my car and a car with Flowmasters parked next to each other at a car show and we had a little comparison with some people giving us their opinions....

Some people just love to take things out of context. If you would read my question i was asking if there was a better muffler for power and sound then flowmaster. I love the rumble i get from my stang but sometimes at 2000 rpm when everything in my car is shaking and i am jammed in Philadelphia traffic is isn't the most pleasent sound. All that i wanted to know was wheather i sould switch my set up to something new to get a fresh start.

Thanks

flowmast has a unique sound there is no doubt i haven't heard magnaflow but heard there quieter but really sweet. I love flowmaster though it sounds like a mustang now. powerwise i dont think you will lose horsepower, mostly gain some. The magnaflow will probably give you a little more power but sound i dont know

i like my flows though

you will loose a little bit of torque with just a weld in with flowmasters. Its not much though. The car just drives different after the weld in. You also can run each each gear longer too before shifting.

Looks like magnaflow would be your best choice, you shouldn't be over 3k much in traffic anyway.

GNN60GT500, I'll take one of those Shelby's off your hands for you

That has got to be the most stupid thing I have ever heard.
Everybody has there own opinion. I had flowmaster 40s for 3 years
and the DRONE gets old quick.
So somebody with a 500hp Mustang with Magnaflows or Borla or SLP's
is Not a mustang lover because he does not have flowmasters or does not like the drone.
Give me a break
Most people get flowmasters for there rumble, NOT the annoying drone.

And the mullet factor. It won't get you the Daisy Dukes as fast as cherry bombs but it'll work
