well i bought my mustang yesterday(overpaid) put in the new clutch at his house since he has a pit (stage 3 spec) so i culd drive it home ok great clutch is in time for a test drive alright well took it out and made a pretty nasty noise at WOT (ok timing is to high put it to 4 degrees and it goes away) wait now its overheating. the guy is like it cuz the timing was to high im like alright....let it cool drove it on WOT with 4 degree timing still doing it guy was like ok its been sitting for a long time u just need to drive it get everything flowing again ugh ok drive it home calmly no WOT drove fine at normal temp today i put in a new thermostat 180 degree great drove the car was great at first no over heating turned the a/c on to see if the clutch was workn to refill the a/c car started smoking and the harmonic balencer was wet so figure great the water pump has gone bad(but it doesnt squeal) water pumps squeal when they go bad right so what the hell is wrong its doing it now even with the a/c off?????? what is it? sorry for the wrong story not happy about a car that was said to run fine just needs new clutch

ya im not used to issue after issure i have owned nothing but new stangs (05 07 and 08) but this car is by far my favorite body style and its a b***h to mess with ecpecially when i wanna drive this just dailly and build a motor on the side so i wasnt really planning on dumpin this much money into a motor that im not building any idea on if its the water pump or anything else i can be? radiator isnt leaking so its not that

Absolutley not... Water pumps do not have to squeal to be bad. Your balancer is most likely because the pump is pissing fluid from the weep holes on the pump. Which is a dead give away that it's bad. What was the timing @ when it was running bad @ wot? 4* base timing is way to low. Could be a fuel delivery problem... More info on the car/mods is needed.

ya this guys on crack altho has alot of nice stangs he owns including a fully restored 67 authintic gt500 that he did himself sayin the original timing i bought the car with was to high(9*) ran very smooth at 11* but he said it wuld run hotter and burn up the motor and the car is ALL stock except now the spec clutch 180* thermostat and bbk shorty headers stock h pipe to flows that dump and i didnt see water flowing out or where it was coming from and really didnt wanna get under it and have boiling water drip on my face haha

oh ok ya i got a ford racing direct replacment im gettn ready to order once i get all my cooling issues figured out im gonna probly run some seafoam if i can get a PIC of where to add it to(sum1 said some vaccum line) and fuel system cleaner and get that timing up to about 14*

Yeah, 4* of timing is DAMN low. go 13-14* on 93 octane. To remove the water pump, pull the mechanical fan off, along with the shroud. That should be all you need to remove it. (havent been under the hood of an actual fox in forever... Mine is set up differently.

Sure sounds like a water pump. Needless to say, someone's in for a learning experience. Just a little something to remember. Just because someone has a lot of nice cars, or even is a good mechanic, it doesn't mean they are someone you want to buy a car from. When he said "get things flowing again" because it had been sitting, that is where I marked him as a complete idiot or he just thinks you are. The second you started that car, things were flowing again.

just bought it and new clutch are two times not to go WOT. clutch needs a break in and if you blow it up now he could find this thread as denial of any refund . for wet balancer i agree water pump is bad and you did clutch you can definitely do pump. :)
